Journey of 70.3 miles

So the next big goal has been set… Iron Man 70.3

Zan and I had been chatting about this one since Double Century 2010, so when Zan and Pete decided to go for it, I decided to stick with my choice and give it a bash too (and managed to twist Ty’s arm to join us too).

At this stage we have 10 weeks left before the big event. We started our training with a 24 week training plan which sounded like a decent amount of time, yet its going so incredibly quickly, eek!

For those who aren’t sure of what Half Iron Man entails:

1.9km swim, 90km cycle, 21.1km run - taking place in East London on the 22 Jan 2012. Lots of commitment and dedication but very do-able (I think… gulp).

So all the base training is done! We stared off slowly building up the training and spending long hours on the bike, leading up to the first challenge, Double Century.

On that note - I’m happy to say that Team VIBE! has a full team of 12 and things are looking GREAT! We have 15 days to go before the big DC. Very happy with how the trainings been going, and so chuffed with the awesome team I have onboard :)

So I’m 14 weeks into my training and 2000km down, 89 workouts completed, and (according to Endomondo) burnt 126 burgers hehe - although with all the Olympia, Knead and Neo treats I’m not so sure about that.

Amongst all this training my social life has carried on as normal. I suspect id perform a lot better if I went to bed at 9am, but hey you’re only 25 once ;)

In 14 weeks I’ve been to a Trailer Trash party, an outing to Beef Cakes, Vintage evening, Maids & Gardens party, Coldplay concert, Hippies party, Kings of Leon concert, Halloween party, Rubik’s Cube party , Symphonic Rocks, MyLife gig, and of course celebrated my 25th birthday weekend at The Grand, Deco Dance and Steenberg Bistro Sixteen82.

I’ve also joined the Armoury PT team for the early morning outdoor training sessions. I’m so enjoying it – and definitely think I could use some strength training. I tend to forget about this – i get very wrapped up in the whole cardio vibe. Check it out…

In between all of this, I've been suffering with extremely bad shin splints. But with a combination of my physio, chiro and podiatrist it seems to all be on track :) So holding thumbs my shins behave till Feb 2012!!

I was delighted to realise I'm on holiday for 26 days over Christmas. So lots of time to train, sleep and tan by the pool (ahhh this sounds amazing!!!!!). But before that… Double Century, Jail Break and of course Cape Town summer fun!

White Room Session – Live Recording

WRS2-2011

On Wednesday evening (17 August 2011) Louise and I will be doing a live recording at Sound & Motion Studios.

http://www.soundandmotion.co.za

Our set will be followed by the beautiful and very talented musician, Monique Hellenberg. Most of you will know Monique from the well known Goldfish track “This is how it goes”.

It is an intimate set and accommodates around 40 guests – therefore seats are limited. Carel “Genius” Burger has very kindly sorted out a live stream of the live recording for those who aren’t able to attend.

I will be posting the live stream link next week – please let me know if you’d be keen to tune in.

Unfortunately as it is a small venue, it is by guest list only. Please let me know if you’d be interested to attend or tune into the live stream.

Updates to follow… :)

Hermanus – Round 3

I cant believe this is already the 3rd year running!!! Its quite hectic to think how things have changed since our 1st Hermanus trip in 2009. This year we had a new addition to the group – little Milea Cronje :)

Lance is off to China tomorrow, for The Summer Universiade (Olympics for students). Wishing you all the best of luck my friend!! Team VIBE! will be with you in spirit :)
